An American content creator has launched a “crazy” challenge to break the world record for the longest all-nighter, by filming himself for 11 days without sleeping.
The young videographer known by the pseudonym Norme had to end his health-threatening challenge after a visit from the police, alerted by Internet users who tried to dissuade the YouTuber from stopping his show, reported Dexerto, a video game news site.
The YouTuber who managed to stay awake for more than 264 hours (11 days) caused concern among Internet users who followed his challenge live on social networks, when he began to have hallucinations and difficulty reading and writing.
The challenge, which was filmed live on YouTube and other online video platforms including Twitch, Kick and Rumble, sparked reactions from Internet users who tried in the comments to convince Norme to stop his marathon against sleep.
Shocked, some of his followers even mobilized to get his address and send an ambulance to the house, before the police arrived at his house, forcing him to end his dangerous challenge, according to the BFM TV network.
Norm therefore ended his fight against sleep after 264 hours and 24 minutes, more than half the record registered in the World Guinness Records, held by Robert McDonald in 1986 with 453 hours and 40 minutes (19 days) without sleep.
