A video published last summer on YouTube could send its author behind bars for a period of 10 years, several American media report.
Popular Californian YouTuber Alex Choi, whose real name is Suk Min Choi, was arrested on Wednesday over a stunt he filmed and posted on his channel. In the video in question, we can see a helicopter, with two women on board, chasing a Lamborghini car, while shooting numerous fireworks at the automobile which is worth more than 400,000 Canadian dollars.
The content creator published on July 4, 2023 the video filmed a few weeks earlier in the Mojave Desert, in the western United States. He titled it: “Destruction of a Lamborghini with fireworks”.
In addition to the stunt, the YouTuber presents behind-the-scenes explanations in the video, which he has since removed from his channel.
However, the authorities claim that Alex Choi did not have a permit to carry out filming during which fireworks were set off by a helicopter. They also accuse the content creator of purchasing the fireworks in Nevada and using them in California, which is illegal.
If found guilty, the YouTuber could receive a prison sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
