The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said on Sunday that “the missile attack carried out by Iran on Israel at the beginning of this month caused significant damage estimated at about 53 million dollars.”
The newspaper added, “It became clear that the damage to property as a result of the Iranian attack on October 1 was significant.”
The newspaper quoted recent Israeli property tax data that “damage to civilian property ranges between 150 and 200 million shekels ($40 to 53 million).”
Damages
She added, “This is the largest damage caused by a single missile attack on Israel since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023.”
The damage resulting from a missile landing near the Sea & Son complex on the beach north of Tel Aviv alone is estimated at about 50 million shekels ($13.5 million), according to the newspaper.
“Severe damage” was caused to restaurants and luxury shops, including Turkiz Restaurant, which was almost completely destroyed, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.
About 150 apartments in luxury housing were damaged as a result of a missile falling near the site in the same area.
Yedioth Ahronoth quoted an unnamed official source as saying, “If the missile had directly hit the building, which contains 250 apartments, it would have resulted in many casualties.”
The newspaper continued, “Much damage occurred in about 10 sites where missiles landed, among other sites inside several Israeli military bases, without resulting in any casualties.”
She added, “One of the epicenters of the fall was in Hod Hasharon (the city in central Israel), where about 100 apartments were damaged.”
In one building, the damage is estimated at more than 10 million shekels ($2.6 million),” according to the newspaper.
In early October, Israel announced that Iran had fired about 180 missiles at it, in an attack that Tehran said was “revenge” for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, and the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Abbas Nilforshan.
The next day, the Israeli army acknowledged that the missile strike had caused damage to its air bases.
Israel assassinated Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and others – including Nilforshan – in an air strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on September 27.
The head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in a bombing of his residence during a visit to Tehran at the end of last July, and Iran accuses Israel of assassinating him.
