Three University of Wyoming students were killed and two others injured in a traffic crash Thursday afternoon.
The three victims, an 18-year-old woman and two men aged 21 and 22, were ejected from the vehicle which left the road with several rollovers, according to what the “New York Post” reported Friday.
The three victims were members of the University swim team, whose head coach Dave Denniston said he was “devastated” following the fatal accident, which occurred on Route 287, near the border with Colorado.
The two injured were transported to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to authorities who have not yet released the identity of the victims until their families are informed.
“Words are not enough to express our sadness,” said the president of the University of Wyoming, Ed Seidel, in a statement, admitting to being “heartbroken” after this terrible tragedy.
“It is difficult to lose members of our University of Wyoming family, and we mourn the loss of these student-athletes,” responded Tom Burman, athletics director at the university, quoted by the local media.
