The law firm Romanucci & Blandin, which notably represents the widow of Renee Nicole Good and her children, deplored in a press release that the authorities were showing “no transparency” in this matter.
“In Minneapolis, as across the country, people care deeply about what happened to Renee Good on January 7, 2026, and want to understand how she could have been killed in the street after dropping her child off at school,” says lawyer Antonio Romanucci, quoted in the press release.
In this case, local Democratic elected officials deplore that the official thesis of self-defense, defended by the entire state apparatus, Donald Trump in the lead, makes the FBI investigation totally biased.
Based on numerous videos taken during the events, they judge that at no time did the victim – killed in her car while participating in an action to obstruct the immigration police (ICE) – represent a danger for the police officer who shot her.
So far, the latter, Jonathan Ross, has not been the subject of any prosecution or suspension.
The law firm is the same one that represented the family of George Floyd, an African-American whose death in 2020 during a police arrest sparked a large protest movement across the country.
The announced procedure, an independent civil investigation, is a first step for possible subsequent action against the federal state.
Attorneys will follow “a somewhat different procedure than filing a civil action against a city or state to hold a police department accountable.” The actions of federal agents require a separate legal avenue,” they explain.
“As often as possible, our team will quickly and transparently communicate the information we discover,” they promise.
