(Washington) The White House unveiled on Thursday a gallery of portraits of former presidents in which that of Joe Biden is replaced by a photograph of a sign to sign, in line with the mockery and attacks by Donald Trump against his predecessor.
The X account of the American presidency has published a video showing the succession of black and white portraits with golden frames installed in a colonnade leading to the oval office.
The video is accompanied by the following comment: “one more embellishment at the White House”, accompanied by two hilarious emoticons.
Between two portraits of Donald Trump, who was elected for the first time in 2016 and then again in 2024, it was not the face of the former Democratic President who appeared, but a photograph of a sign (“autopen” in English) writing the name of Joe Biden on a white sheet.
The current Republican president accuses the entourage of his predecessor Joe Biden of having “plotted” to hide the decline of the former president and of having “usurped” his power, justly using such equipment.
According to Donald Trump, who very often laughs at Joe Biden and his supposedly abusive use of “Autopen”, certain decisions taken by the Democrat would therefore be zero, in particular graces granted to certain political leaders or to relatives.
The republican billionaire said that was “one of the most dangerous and disturbing scandals in American history”.
Joe Biden, who has disappeared from the political scene since the inauguration of his greatest rival, rejected “ridiculous and false” allegations.
The former president, now 82, had recently announced from an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer.
His successor has undertaken to redecorate the White House to his taste, with force golden ornaments and a few paintings representing him. He also built a gigantic ballroom there.
