Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is accused of spending more money on foreign trips than other Israeli officials, at a time when the Israeli economy is suffering from slowing growth and rising inflation.
The Israelis paid about $3.5 million for a week of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations and visit to San Francisco, while his stay at the Regency Hotel cost $4,000 a day.
As for former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, he spent 3 days in Washington, which cost the Israelis $1.65 million, which means that Netanyahu spends half a million more than Bennett per day.
Tweeters on social media were not surprised by Netanyahu’s extra expenses, given that he receives money from the Americans and Western allies. The episode (20/8/2024) monitored some comments on the subject.
According to activist Ali, “As long as the money is from the treasury of his imaginary state, he will not care about wasting a lot of money on himself and his family as well in order to relax and enjoy a life of luxury, as the cost of guarding his son Yair during his stay in the American city of Miami amounted to one million shekels.”
For Ahmed Al-Tamimi, “It makes perfect sense that he would be extravagant, otherwise where would the money spent by the United States and its Western allies go?”
Leah Ahmed tweeted about Netanyahu’s excessive expenses, saying, “Benny Gantz (former member of the Israeli War Council) is demanding money, he told him there is no approval… on the basis that Sara and Yair’s travel is stipulated in the law,” referring to Netanyahu’s wife and son.
In the opinion of Muhammad Al-Nazili, “These expenses and extravagance for the sake of enjoyment and luxury are what appeared, but what is hidden is greater…what is not calculated is lost in the calculation.”
It is noteworthy that these expenses were revealed at a time when the Israeli economy is suffering from a slowdown in growth and an increase in the inflation rate to 3.2%, in addition to the deficit that reached 41 billion dollars due to the war on the Gaza Strip at the end of last July.
