(Tucson) Savannah Guthrie told her mother Nancy Guthrie’s would-be kidnappers Saturday that the family was willing to pay for her safe return, as the frantic search for the 84-year-old Arizona resident entered its seventh day.

“We received your message and we understand. We are begging you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” she said in a video posted on social media, surrounded by her siblings. “It’s the only way we can find peace.” This is very important to us, and we are willing to pay. »

Guthrie was referring to a message sent Friday afternoon to Tucson-based television station KOLD, according to Kevin Smith, a spokesman for the FBI’s Phoenix office.

KOLD said it received an email related to the Guthrie case on social media that day, but declined to release specific details about its contents because the FBI was investigating.

The channel was one of several media outlets to receive alleged ransom letters during the week. At least one letter made financial requests and set deadlines for Thursday evening and the following Monday evening.

At a news conference Thursday, law enforcement declined to confirm the veracity of the letters, but said all leads were being seriously investigated.

The video released Saturday was the third this week pleading with would-be kidnappers.

Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will from her home just outside Tucson last weekend. DNA testing showed that blood found on Ms. Guthrie’s porch matched hers, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.

The police chief said Friday he was frustrated that the camera installed at Nancy Guthrie’s home was unable to film anyone on the day she disappeared.

Investigators discovered the doorbell camera had been disconnected early Sunday morning and the software recorded movement in the home minutes later. But Nancy Guthrie did not have an active subscription, so none of the images could be retrieved.
