(Washington) US Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr said on Thursday that the United States would oppose a Declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) on chronic diseases, saying in particular that it defended abortion and a “radical gender ideology”.
The secretary was expressed during a United Nations meeting, on the sidelines of his general assembly, on “prevention and the fight against chronic diseases and the promotion of mental health and well-being”.
He estimated that the declaration was also unaware, “the most urgent health problems”, without specifying the latter.
The 15 -page text, consulted by AFP, not mentions the right to abortion or gender ideology. Despite opposition from the United States, the WHO declaration should be approved by a majority of the 193 member states of the organization in October.
The United Nations and his agencies are in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump who initiated, upon his return to the White House, the process to leave the WHO.
After having strongly advised on Monday the acetaminophen to pregnant women, associating it with a risk of high autism for children despite the contrary advice of doctors, and by throwing unfounded discredit on vaccines, President Donald Trump had attracted an WHO denial.
“Vaccines save lives, we know it. Vaccines do not cause autism, “said a spokesperson for the UN agency Tarik Jasarevic.
“They saved countless lives. This is something that science has proven, “he added, calling on leaders to follow the recommendations of the health authorities.
