Two young adults discovered a long tunnel dating back a hundred years under their house in Michigan, in the United States, according to several American media. It would have been used during the Prohibition era for smuggling goods.
Hayley and Trevor Gilmartin explained in a video posted to TikTok that they had started renovations on their home. In particular, they wanted to remove their old spa which was inside.

It was while removing the hot tub that the couple discovered the sinister room filled with water, located more than 20 feet below the house.
The room would be directly linked to Lake Huron, where Mr. and Mrs. Gilmartin live nearby, the young woman told the newspaper Newsweek. Aside from a six-foot hose and water, the room is empty.
Instead of panicking, the two individuals decided to get to the end of the mystery by going to the other side of the tunnel.
“We dove into the river and found the other end,” Mr Gilmartin told Jam Press. He said it’s “impossible” to pump the water because the room “still receives it from Lake Huron and the rivers it’s connected to.”

They later learned that some neighbors had similar tunnels under their homes.
According to experts, the area where the couple lives is responsible for about 75% of Prohibition-related activity in the 1920s.
“We’re going to continue to explore it and, if possible, we’ll remove the water and maybe create an entertainment room or a bowling alley,” Mr. Gilmartin told Newsweek.
