Will Tuesday night’s clash between JD Vance and Tim Walz, the running mates of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, be the most important vice-presidential debate in American history?

The American historian Douglas Brinkley seems to think so.
“I know everyone is waiting to see the results in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, but the big moment will be October 1,” he said in an interview with the show Morning Joe on the American network MSNBC.
“This will be the most important vice-presidential debate, I think, in the history of the United States,” he added. This may be Trump’s last chance if Vance can win points.”
In an interview with LCN, the specialist in American politics, Luc Laliberté, said he was less convinced by this assertion, but nevertheless believes that the debate between the two running mates is likely to be interesting for several reasons.
“In both cases, both JD Vance and Tim Walz, we put a lot of emphasis on their choice,” he said. JD Vance did not live up to his reputation and the expectations that were placed on him.”
“As for Tim Walz, he is still someone who is relatively unknown on the national scene,” he continues. He made a rather good entrance, except for one or two small controversies. He must stay the course.”
Mr. Laliberté believes that JD Vance is the one who will have the most pressure on October 1st.
“Of the two, I think he has the most to prove or to gain during this debate,” he says. He will definitely have to be in attack mode. He can’t just come and watch the shots. He has to score points.”
This clash is a great opportunity for the two candidates to seek additional votes which could be decisive in the November 5 election.
“It’s very tight,” says the specialist in American politics. Slight advantage for Kamala Harris, but certainly, there is no one who will declare victory, we are very far from it. I can’t wait to see how the two men will fare and who will please the most, or displease the least.
