The ditch widens in terms of vaccines in the United States. While the Director of Florida Health announced on Wednesday that he will ban vaccination obligations in schools, three western states have created a “health alliance” to offer new vaccination recommendations.
The director general of public health of Florida Joseph A. Ladapo announced on Wednesday his intention to end all the vaccination obligations imposed by the State, including for the schooling of children.
The measure would make Florida the first state to completely abandon this recognized practice for having helped to increase vaccination rates and limited the spread of infectious diseases.
The same day, California, Oregon and Washington state have announced that they will form an “health alliance aimed at providing populations with vaccination recommendations. The Alliance will also provide information on the efficiency and security of vaccines “developed by scientists, doctors and other public health officials,” the Democrats of these states said in a joint statement.
It all happens as Donald Trump is engaged in an unprecedented showdown with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the country’s main health agency.
After having started a significant overhaul of this agency, the secretary of health, Robert Kennedy Jr, disputed for his anti-vaccinity positions, put the scientist at the door. The dismissal aroused the convictions of medical institutions and the American left.
