Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are tied in voting intentions a few days before the election, new poll reveals New York Times/Siena College.
According to this survey, the two candidates in the presidential election on November 5 each received 48% of the participants’ support less than two weeks before the vote.
The analysis of the results can be alarming for the vice-president and Democratic candidate according to the American media, while its previous poll, at the beginning of October, placed Harris in the lead with 49% against 46% for Trump.
The Democratic Party was hopeful that Kamala Harris would build a comfortable lead nationally and thus demonstrate to the electorate her ability to perform well in swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
In previous elections, the Democrats had managed to widen the lead in popular support. This is obviously not the case this time.
The Democratic vice-president and the former Republican president therefore remain neck and neck after several months of campaigning among the most tumultuous in the history of American politics, to name only the abandonment of Joe Biden and the two assassination attempts on Donald Trump.
The conclusion of this tight race will be played out in seven states in particular, according to the New York Times. Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin represent the battlegrounds and it is no coincidence that both candidates spent so much time there during the campaign. Right now, polls in these seven states suggest the fight is just as fierce there.
Friday, both the Democrat and the Republican are venturing to Texas.
Kamala Harris is scheduled to attend a rally in Houston to speak about abortion rights and is expected to be accompanied on stage by singer Beyoncé.
For his part, Donald Trump will visit an airplane hangar in Austin to criticize the state of the migration crisis in the United States. During this visit, he must also participate in Joe Rogan’s popular podcast.
