US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on Friday that the United States can increase restrictions on Iran and stop its oil exports as part of a plan to pressure it on its nuclear program.

The United States has followed a more striking approach to Iran because of its nuclear activity since US President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January.

Washington withdrew in its first term from the nuclear agreement concluded with Tehran in 2015 and imposed restrictions on its oil exports.

According to data from the oil sector, Iranian oil exports were recovered in an era Joe BidenWho took over the presidency after Trump’s first state, and has not witnessed any decrease yet in 2025.

China, which opposes unilateral sanctions, buys the largest part of Iran’s shipments.

“This is really very possible. President Trump has already done so in his first term. We can follow the ships leaving Iran,” Wright told Reuters, in response to a question about how the United States applied to the policy of “maximum pressure” to Tehran.

“We know where to go. We can stop Iranian oil exports,” he added during a visit to Abu Dhabi.

He added -in response to a question about whether the United States will intercede Iranian ships at sea -: “I will not talk about the specific method of how to achieve this. But we can narrow the screws on Iran by 100%.”

Wright also said, that the expectations for supply and demand for oil will improve during the next few years under Donald Trump’s policies, and that market fears about economic growth will show that they are wrong.

Iran said on Friday that it would give high -level nuclear talks with the United States tomorrow, Saturday, “a real opportunity”, after Trump threatened to bomb Iran if the talks fail.
