The vehicle, with 47 people on board, overturned in Warren County.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had initially announced the deaths of four Mexican nationals, including two minors, according to information gathered by the country’s consulate in New Orleans.
Hours later, “it was confirmed that the three deceased people who had not yet been identified were of Mexican origin,” according to an update published by the ministry on the social network X.
The ministry also said that 17 of the passengers on the bus, which was traveling from Atlanta, Georgia, to Dallas, Texas, were Mexican nationals.
According to media reports, the bus overturned into a ditch and apparently had a flat tire.
