An American man who aspired to become a police officer has admitted to sexually abusing his cousin during a job interview.
Stephen Boldey mentioned “playing sex games” during an interview to become a police officer with a department in Florida.
When officers asked him to be more specific, the 26-year-old explained that he had sexually abused a child years ago.
Detectives tracked down the victim’s mother who admitted the two had a very close relationship.
This woman turns out to be his cousin. She told the Florida Department of Children and Families that the abuse took place when the man was between 14 and 19 years old.
Mr. Boldey’s lawyers requested that the trial proceed without a jury, which was refused by the judge.
Ultimately, the 26-year-old man was found guilty of his actions.
His sentence will be known on June 24. The twenty-year-old faces life in prison.
