(Washington) An airplane carrying 20 people crashed on Sunday in the American state of Tennessee, several of its passengers having been helped to hospitals, according to local authorities.
“According to the first reports, 16 to 20 people were on board,” said a police patrol dedicated to road safety in this southern United States, saying to assist the police “at the scene of a plane crushing”.
“Some (passengers) were evacuated by helicopter to nearby hospitals,” she added, adding that the intervention of the emergency services was still in progress.
On social networks, photographs showed a small white plane damaged in the grass. One of the wings seems to have been torn off and the tail of the device seems broken.
The American aviation regulator, the FAA, confirmed this incident, specifying that the aircraft, a Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter crushed shortly after leaving Tullahoma regional airport, in Tennessee around 12:45 p.m. local time (1:45 p.m. East) on Sunday. ”
“Twenty people were on board,” he said, announcing an investigation.
According to local media, this plane was used for the practice of parachuting.
