Republican Senator Mitch McConnell’s sister-in-law, Angela Chao, lost her life last February after getting stuck in a pond in her Tesla.

The 50-year-old businesswoman traveled to a private ranch in Texas to celebrate Chinese New Year with friends.
Seeking to return to the main house around 11:30 p.m. on February 11, she accidentally put her car in reverse instead of forward.
It wasn’t the first time she made this mistake, but this time the car ended up in a pond, the Wall Street Journal.
The CEO of Foremost Group failed to break the window of her Tesla and drowned. According to the American Automobile Association, it is virtually impossible to break tempered glass in water.
Angela Chao would have called her friend in panic just before she died, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Her friends then came out and one of them jumped into the water in the hope of saving her. Emergency services finally arrived at 12:30 a.m., according to a fire incident report cited by the American media.
When the water-filled vehicle was finally pulled out of the pond, Angela Chao was unconscious. Resuscitation efforts were initiated without success and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
