Last October, Turkish exports recorded an increase of 7.4% compared to the same month in 2022. This was stated in a report prepared by the Turkish Statistics Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, on the volume of the country’s foreign trade last month.
According to the data, the value of exports last October amounted to 22 billion and 871 million dollars, while imports recorded an increase of 0.6%.
The foreign trade deficit decreased by 17.5% last month, recording 7 billion and 902 million dollars.
Total exports from the beginning of this year until last October increased by 0.2%, achieving 209 billion and 904 million dollars.
During the same period, the foreign trade deficit reached 91 billion and 44 million dollars, an increase of 3.2%.
Last Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the country’s exports in the last 12 months until October amounted to 254.8 billion dollars, noting that exports recorded a new record last month, as they increased by 7.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 22.9%. Billion dollar.
Erdogan expressed his pride in all the companies that contribute to production, employment and export in Turkey.
Erdogan pointed out that Turkey’s annual exports were only $36.1 billion in 2002 when the Justice and Development Party came to power.
He noted that Turkey is third in export growth among OECD countries in terms of the speed of increase in exports.
He pointed out that despite all the difficulties and problems at the global level, Turkey’s exports continue their upward trend.
Erdogan stressed that increasing exports in terms of numbers is important, but during the coming period the focus must be on increasing quality as well.
