Türkiye ranked first European and eighth globally in agricultural production, according to the numbers of 2023.
Türkiye has achieved these successes in the agricultural sector at a time when the Korona and Wars are increased in exacerbating the problem of food security in the world.
According to the latest figures from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Bank, the value of Turkish agricultural production amounted to 68.9 billion dollars in 2023.
Türkiye stands out in the global lists in almost every branch of the agricultural sector.
During a Ramadan breakfast banquet last Wednesday for farmers, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that today Türkiye is ranked first in agricultural production, and is ranked fourth in the world in the production of vegetables and fruits.
Erdogan indicated that Türkiye produces 206 types of agricultural crops, and has mostly self -sufficiency.
He pointed out that Türkiye is ranked ninth in the world and the third is European in milk production, and it ranks seventh in the world, and the first is European in the production of cows meat.
He added that it ranks ninth in the world and the second European in the production of chicken meat, and the tenth rank globally and the second in European production.
Erdogan noted that Türkiye topped European and occupied the second place globally in honey production, as well as ranked 16th in the world and the second European in raising aquatic neighborhoods.
The agricultural sector represents approximately 7% of the country’s gross domestic product, and employs about 20% of the workforce.
It is noteworthy that the agricultural output in Türkiye increased from $ 25 billion in 2002 to $ 74 billion in 2024.
