The Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumgli, announced – on Sunday – that his country had signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia in the field of agriculture.

The Turkish minister added – in his blog post on the X platform – that he held “discussions with a Saudi delegation, headed by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli,” during his visit to Riyadh.

Youmqali explained that the discussions witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of agriculture, and he expressed his hope that this memorandum would bring “good to both countries.”

According to a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the memorandum of understanding stipulates “strengthening cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock and water management.”

The memorandum also includes “forming a joint working group to take the necessary measures in this regard, provided that the working group holds periodic meetings if necessary.”

Meanwhile, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Polat revealed that the volume of trade exchange between Turkey and Saudi Arabia approached $6.2 billion during the 11 months of this year.

The minister pointed out – during a meeting in Istanbul – that the volume of trade exchange between Turkey and Saudi Arabia increased by 41% in 2022, to reach $6.5 billion.

Identical Turkish and Saudi data show that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 6.5 billion dollars in 2022, up from 3.7 billion in 2021.

Polat explained that the strategic goal of the two countries is to reach a trade exchange volume of $10 billion in the medium term, and $30 billion in the long term.
