The Democratic train led by Kamala Harris and Tim Walz could topple Republican strongholds, according to the feelings of Quebecers living in the United States.

Charles St-Maurice, who has lived in Florida for about a decade, senses that Donald Trump may have more difficulty than expected in rallying voters in this state, which has long supported Republicans in recent years.

“Trump’s ‘balloon’ has deflated. The MAGAs have deflated. There were trucks with (pro-Trump) flags. Today, we don’t see any more. It’s a total change. It’s dead calm. It’s like they don’t know what to do anymore,” he said.

The latter sees that black and Latino communities are galvanized by the campaign led by the Democrats.

Annabelle Nicoud, a resident of San Francisco, California, describes a euphoria similar to that which she experienced when Barack Obama was first elected in 2008.

“Michelle Obama hit the nail on the head in her speech yesterday, when she talked about renewed hope,” she said. “There’s a break with the last eight years. There’s definitely a continuation of the energy from Barack Obama’s first term.”
