(Washington) US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he will not “tolerate” the pursuit of the corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, whose cancellation he had already claimed.

Posted at 7:46 p.m.

“The United States of America spends billions of dollars a year, much more than for any other nation, to protect and support Israel,” wrote the American president on his social social platform. “We are not going to tolerate this,” he added in reference to the current trial.

Benyamin Netanyahu “is negotiating an agreement with Hamas, which will include the release of hostages. How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to stay in a courtroom all day? “Continued Donald Trump.

On Friday, an Israeli court rejected Benyamin Netanyahu’s request to suspend its hearings in its corruption trial for two weeks.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s lawyer had asked for the postponement of hearings before resuming next week by invoking “developments in the region and the world”, after the war with Iran and with the continuation of the conflict in Gaza.

He subsequently submitted to the Court a new request requesting the cancellation of the next two hearings.

Donald Trump had already called on Wednesday to the cancellation of the trial, which he had described as a “witch hunt”. He had otherwise recommended that a grace was “granted to a great hero”, the day after the ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

Mr. Netanyahu denied any reprehensible act during the trial, postponed several times since its opening in May 2020.

In a first case, he was accused, with his wife Sara Netanyahu, of having accepted luxury products worth more than $ 260,000, such as Cigars, Jewelry and Champagne, from billionaires, in exchange for political favors.

In two other cases, Mr. Netanyahu is accused of trying to negotiate more favorable coverage in two Israeli media.
