In a move described by observers as “an earthquake in the global commercial system”, US President Donald Trump is preparing today to reveal the details of his plan to impose large -scale customs definitions on all imports to the United States, while it is known as “Tahrir Day”, during a prospective speech in the White House garden, according to the BBC report.
Comprehensive definitions that threaten economic globalization
The report indicates that Trump, who has always described customs duties as “the most beautiful word in the dictionary”, appears to be determined to end decades of economic globalization by launching drivers of up to 20% on all imports to his country.
“Everything in the end depends on President Trump,” one of the negotiators in the Group of Seven Countries (G7) told the British Broadcasting Authority.

It is believed that this trend is not just negotiating pressure, but rather a major strategic shift in American commercial policy, so that countries are classified according to different levels of fees, which may lead to reprisal responses from the United States’ trading partners around the world.
Excessive global cost
According to a study of the University of Aston University in the United Kingdom, the possible global economic costs of this trend may reach 1.4 trillion dollars, as a result of disturbances in trade movement and a rise in prices.
The British economy is expected to shrink by 1% if comprehensive fees are imposed, which may lead to pressure on the government to raise taxes or reduce public spending.
On the European side, Brussels is expected to respond by targeting American technological companies, while London may choose a different behavior by refraining from response, and perhaps providing tax incentives to attract American technology giants.
Globalization failed from the Trump administration perspective
The report indicates that the Trump administration sees in globalization a failed project, as its promises have not been fulfilled that the rich countries move to the “higher value chain” and leave simple tasks for developing countries.
In a speech by JD Vans, Vice President last month, he said that “globalization has failed America,” noting that the experience with China highlighted this failure.
The report warns that if the United States exaggerates its pressure on its allies, China may find a favorable opportunity to fill the void, especially in European markets. Chinese products may be drowned from electronics, western market clothes, and games at low prices, after they are withheld from the American market.
Restrup the global order
The British Broadcasting Corporation concludes its report by noting that what begins today not only aims to reshape the American economy or the rules of trade, but also vows a comprehensive change in the way the global system is managed, according to observers, “commercial fees wars are difficult to win, and it is easy for everyone to lose.”
In light of these developments, it appears that the world is coming to a new economic chapter, writing its first chapters from the garden of roses in the White House, but its repercussions may reach the maximum pillars of the globe.
