Trump’s historic guilty verdict risks making its way into the minds of many voters, particularly among undecided voters who do not want to see the former president return to power nor Joe Biden.

The Republican candidate was found guilty Thursday of the 34 counts against him in his criminal trial in New York, a verdict which fell much more quickly than expected, admitted the director of the Observatory on the United States at the Raoul Dandurand Chair, Frédérick Gagnon.
“Twelve people, Mr. and Mrs. Everyman, who listened to each other’s arguments for seven weeks, and finally at the end of 12 hours of deliberation, (they arrived at) a unanimous decision: guilty on all counts. the line,” summarized the expert.
“It proves how convincing the evidence was ultimately,” he analyzed in an interview with LCN on Friday.
While it is still early to know whether this decision will have an effect on votes for the presidential election, it may still be taken into account by some.
“Trump will have to live with this verdict and the electoral universe changed (Friday) morning because one of the questions at the ballot box will be to ask ourselves if we want to vote for a criminal on November 5 », underlined Mr. Gagnon.
The voters to watch, he says, are those who hate both Trump and Joe Biden.
“It’s about 15% of voters. Among these people, there are many who will not vote on November 5 because they do not like the choice,” explained the specialist.
If some people decide to vote, however, because they do not want to see the Republican candidate in the White House, this could make a difference of 2 or 3% in the race for votes.
“It’s going to be a close election on November 5 and it’s going to be highly dramatic,” Mr. Gagnon expects.
