(Washington) Donald Trump attributes the bruises visible on his right hand to the dose of aspirin he takes daily, stronger than what doctors recommend, and denies having dozed off during recent public events in an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Thursday.

“They (the doctors) would prefer that I take the lower dose (of aspirin). I have been taking a stronger one (…) for years, and it causes bruising,” he explains.
Donald Trump, 79, is the oldest American president ever elected.
“They say aspirin is good for thinning the blood and I don’t want thick blood flowing to my heart. I want nice fluid blood,” he explains about his daily intake of 325 milligrams.
A low dose is usually 81 milligrams, according to the Mayo Clinic, a hospital cited by the Wall Street Journal.
The near-octogenarian is regularly seen with the back of his right hand painted or bandaged to hide bruises, attributed by the White House to his frequent handshakes and his taking aspirin as a routine cardiovascular treatment.
“I have makeup that is easy to apply, it takes ten seconds,” he says.
Contrary to his previous statements, Donald Trump specifies that he had a CT scan and not an MRI in October. Information confirmed by his doctor Sean Barbabella in a press release to the American newspaper, explaining that it was a matter of “definitively ruling out any cardiovascular problem” and that the examination had shown no abnormality.
The Republican also claims not to have dozed off during several public events, after being seen with difficulty keeping his eyes open, notably during a meeting of secretaries in December.
“I just close my eyes. It relaxes me a lot,” he defends himself, frustrated that his health is scrutinized down to the smallest detail.
“Sometimes they take a picture of me blinking and they capture the moment I blink,” he continues.
After a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency communicated in July, the billionaire explains that he briefly wore compression socks, but gave them up because he “didn’t like them”.
In April, his medical assessment indicated that he was taking medication for cholesterol.
Donald Trump, who continued during the presidential campaign to overwhelm his Democratic rival Joe Biden, presented as senile, regularly prides himself on shining during cognitive exams.
