A truck carrying more than 15 million bees has overturned on a highway in the state of Maine, United States.
The accident occurred during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, while the truck was heading to Washington County where bees were to pollinate blueberry fields.
Although there were no injuries in this accident, several rescuers were stung several times by bees, according to the fire chief quoted by the Associated Press.
As the rescuers were checking to see if there was any liquid leaking into the truck, they came across swarms of bees.
A spokesperson for the local police indicated that the goal was to save as many bees as possible with the help of a beekeeper called to the rescue, according to the American media.
Due to the high temperature in the passenger compartment, the insects were contained while the truck was lifted, said Shannon Moss, police spokesperson.
In July 2022, as a reminder, at least 10 million bees found themselves out of their hives when a truck transporting them overturned on Highway 80 in Utah.
