The cruise ship Carnival Spirit unexpectedly struck a “drifting piece of ice” last week in Alaska, a moment described as the Titanic by a passenger.
Several passengers shared on social media the moment the ship collided with “the drifting chunk of ice,” as a Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson described it to CNN.
THE Carnival Spirit was sailing in Tracy Arm Fjord when it struck the piece of ice.
A passenger on the boat, Cassandra Goskie, posted a TikTok video in which she said: “If we die, it was worth it, it’s a moment Titanic“.
Another passenger, Saurabh Singhal, also shared his testimony on Facebook, saying the boat was stopped “for hours to assess the damage.”
A spokesperson for the Carnival Spirit said that “an assessment determined no damage to the ship’s hull and it continued its cruise with no impact on its operations,” CNN reported.
He also confirmed that no one was injured on board.
