This is how the countries responded to Trump re -igniting commercial wars again economy

US President Donald Trump issued an order yesterday to impose large customs duties on Canada, Mexico and China, and demanded that it stop the flow of fentanel and irregular migrants to the United States, to ignite a trade war that may undermine global growth and fuel inflation.

On 3 executive orders, Trump imposed 25% customs duties on Mexican and Canadian imports, with the exception of Canadian energy imports that will be imposed by 10%, and 10% fees on commodities coming from China, starting next Tuesday.

China

  • China has declared its “strongly opposition” to the new customs tariffs imposed by Trump on Beijing.
  • She pledged to take similar counter -measures to protect her rights and interests “firmly”.
  • The Chinese Ministry of Trade stated that it would file a lawsuit against Washington in the World Trade Organization.
  • The volume of China -American trade reached about 500 billion euros during the first 11 months of 2024, but the scale is largely favorable to the United States, with a deficit of about 260 billion euros during this period, according to Washington figures.
  • According to Wall Street Journal, China has proposed a plan to counter Trump’s fees that include an offer to make more investments in the United States, pledge not to reduce the value of the yuan, and adhere to reducing the exports of fentanels.

Canada

  • Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada will impose customs duties on US products by 25%, a total of $ 155 billion, Canadian dollars (102 billion euros).
  • As of Tuesday, Canada will impose these customs duties on goods worth $ 30 billion.
  • These fees affect consumer products such as American fruits, fruits, vegetables, perfumes, clothes and shoes, as well as home appliances, furniture, sports equipment and materials such as building wood and plastic.

Mexico

  • Mexico President Claudia Shinbom condemned the accusation of Donald Trump of her government of being smuggled by drugs.
  • The left -wing national president has announced “customs and non -customs procedures to defend the interests of Mexico.”

European Union

  • The European Union stressed on Sunday that its response would be “firm” if US President Donald Trump imposes customs duties on the bloc.
  • Brussels condemned Washington imposed customs duties on its imports from Canada, Mexico and China.
  • The European Commission warned that “customs duties cause unnecessary economic unrest and increase inflation. They are harmful to all parties.”
  • In 2018, during his first presidential term, Trump imposed customs duties on European steel and aluminum exports, which prompted the European Union to respond similarly.
