Saudi Economy Minister Faisal Al-Ibrahim discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Abdel Nasser Hemmati, the strengthening of relations.
This came during a meeting between the two ministers, yesterday, Monday, on the sidelines of the 28th Annual Global Investment Conference, which Riyadh will host between 25 and 27 November.
During the meeting, they “discussed strengthening relations between the two countries and issues of common interest,” according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
On March 10, 2023, Saudi Arabia and Iran announced the resumption of their diplomatic relations following Chinese-sponsored talks in the capital, Beijing.
In September 2023, diplomatic representation between Saudi Arabia and Iran returned after severing relations in 2016, then agreeing to resume them in March of the same year.
Yesterday, Monday, the conference was launched in Riyadh, organized by the “Invest in Saudi Arabia” platform, in partnership with the International Association of Investment Promotion Agencies.
For his part, Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih said during the opening of the conference, “We are honored to host this prominent international gathering that brings together an elite group of investors, decision-makers and experts to discuss one of the most important drivers of the global economy, which is investment.”
He talked about the challenges and opportunities facing global investment in light of the current economic transformations.
The Saudi minister added that the Kingdom has achieved “a remarkable economic growth of 70% in recent years, with foreign direct investment flows increasing three-fold, and the number of registered international investors increasing 10 times compared to what it was before the launch of the vision, in addition to more than 1,200 international investors obtaining… Premium residency for one year.
