(Washington) The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, will speak before the highest officers in the army early next week, the Pentagon announced on Thursday, the media reporting that he had summoned hundreds of generals or admirals.
According to the Washington Post, the Pentagon chief ordered all the generals and admirals occupying a command post and their main advisers to go to the basis of Quantico, Virginia (East) on Tuesday.
Asked about this, Sean Parnell, the spokesman for the Pentagon, replied in a statement that Pete Hegseth “will (IT) a speech in front of his senior military officials early next week”.
THE Washington Post described this meeting as “highly unusual”. Officials deployed worldwide as well as in the United States are summoned.
“People are very worried. They do not know what it means, ”says an anonymous person quoted by the Washington Post.
CNN quoted American officials saying that hundreds of generals and admirals had been summoned for this meeting.
In May, Pete Hegseth ordered significant discounts in the number of generals and admirals in the American army, but it is not known if the meeting next week is linked to this directive.
The Pentagon has experienced a series of upheavals since the return to power of Donald Trump in January, whose administration dismissed several high officers, generally without providing an explanation.
