The activities of the Khan Harir exhibition for clothing, shoes and production supplies started today, Thursday, in the exhibition city in the Syrian capital, Damascus, with the participation of 88 local companies.
Ammar Al -Azzo, director of the media office of the Aleppo Chamber of Industry, said that this exhibition is the first economic event of its kind after the fall of the ousted President Bashar al -Assad.
The exhibition is a new start to restore the status of textile industries in Syria after the damage to industrial facilities and textile laboratories during the war years, according to those in charge of the exhibition.
The exhibition is held by the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade in cooperation with the Aleppo and Damascus industry rooms.
The exhibition, which lasts until the eighth of this month, includes the specializations of the textile industry sector and its clothing requirements; Wala’a, women, men, shoes and leather, accessories, fabrics, threads, and other production requirements, in addition to economic activities aimed at promoting the national industry and opening new markets internally and externally.
The textile industry in Syria faces several problems that led to a decline in production.

In 2021, Syria’s cotton production fell to only about 120,000 tons, which left the remaining yarn facilities, and the dressing industry in the inability to secure cotton threads.
The Ministry of Economy stated that the exhibition constitutes an important platform for industrialists, producers and businessmen from various governorates, and aims to stimulate local and foreign markets, and to provide national products of high quality and competitive prices, and encourages the participants to attract their agents and customers from Arab countries to enhance Arab trade cooperation Contributes to the success of the exhibition.
