Kuwait- At a cost estimated at more than two million dollars, on an area of 750 square meters and with a capacity of up to 35 beds, The Kuwait Red Crescent Society decided to establish a field hospital inside Gaza strip, To provide urgent health care to sick and injured people To enhance its role in providing various assistance to the sector.
Last Saturday, the association signed an agreement with its Egyptian counterpart to establish a field hospital within the Gaza Strip. The agreement included The project will be completed within a short period of 3 weeks, while providing it with medical equipment and specialized personnel.
The agreement was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Association’s Vice President, Anwar Al-Hassawi, and on the Egyptian side by the Association’s Executive Director, Dr. Rami Al-Nazer, at the Association’s headquarters in Cairo, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Cairo, Ghanem Al-Ghanim.
The hospital facilities are divided into two operating rooms, 8 central care beds, 6 incubators for premature babies, an x-ray unit, in addition to a medical analysis laboratory. The field hospital will include reception rooms containing 8 beds for patients, in addition to medical equipment and supplies, as well as the rest of the accessories related to establishing the hospital.
Support the health sector
He confirmed Assistant Al-Anazi Director of the Legal Department and Volunteer Affairs at the Kuwait Red Crescent Society said that the establishment of the hospital comes within the Society’s vision of the necessity of providing the necessary support to the health sector in Gaza, following the Israeli aggression, which caused great damage to hospitals and health centers within the Strip.
Speaking to Manhattan Tribune Net, he added that the idea of the field hospital did not come out of nowhere, and that the need is urgent to medicines and medical supplies, This is also shown by the media, or by appeals from the concerned authorities, whether through the Palestinian Red Crescent or the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and calls made by international organizations.
Al-Enezi pointed out the importance of the hospital, especially after the bombing of more than 35 hospitals, and what remains of them needs logistical and medical support for individuals and medical staff, and their number is estimated at 13 hospitals.
The same spokesman said, “We are working to create it as quickly as possible so that it can contribute to alleviating the suffering of our brothers in the Gaza Strip, and be close to the event.”
Al-Enezi stated that there is a Kuwaiti medical team that will participate in providing the necessary treatment, and their official papers have been sent to the Egyptian side, to grant it the necessary permits with the aim of forming continuous work teams and performing the necessary medical operations to participate in reducing the burden on the medical staff in the Gaza Strip, which is suffering from… Work permanently.
Overcoming obstacles
As for the location and stages of establishing the hospital, Al-Enezi explained that the hospital will be established inside the Gaza Strip next to Al-Amal Hospital, and will be prepared with the hope that work on it will be completed within two weeks from now, so that the second phase will begin with the introduction of hospital equipment.
He added, “We are working with the Palestinian Red Crescent to enter the hospital as soon as possible in order to contribute to alleviating the health sector in Gaza, and we are coordinating with the Egyptian side to bring the hospital into the Palestinian territories, but the Zionist entity places many obstacles with the aim of obstructing the entry of aid in general, noting that the hospital “It will be almost ready in the next few days.”
The operation will be carried out in cooperation with the Red Crescent in Egypt and Gaza and the International Red Cross Movement, noting that all the assistance provided came from popular donations, the Kuwaiti Red Crescent, and Kuwaiti charitable societies in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministries of Affairs and Foreign Affairs, and the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo.
A priority for the relief side
Al-Enezi’s assistant pointed out that Kuwaiti aid did not stop to support “our brothers in Gaza,” and that the idea of establishing other field hospitals will be linked to the developments of each stage, and that the priority is for rapid relief and medical supplies.
Al-Enezi did not fail to hope that this aggression would end as soon as possible to work more broadly to help the people in the Gaza Strip. He added that after establishing the hospital, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health will have a major role, through the medical personnel that will enter Gaza to work with the medical personnel, pointing to its previous experiences in countries. Other.
As for the idea of treating some of the wounded Palestinian brothers inside Kuwait, Al-Enezi explained that the role of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society will be in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Red Crescent, which addresses the Palestinian side, and determine lists of the names of the wounded before transporting them to Kuwait.
Aid continues
So far, Kuwait has provided more than 2,000 tons of relief, humanitarian and medical aid and ambulances, as about 40 equipped ambulances were brought in.
Al-Enezi confirms that Kuwaiti aid from both the government and civil society has not stopped supporting Palestine since the time of the Nakba. He added that there are many projects implemented by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza, in coordination with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the relevant Kuwaiti authorities, and the Palestinian Red Crescent within the occupied territories.
Last Wednesday, a mobile medical clinic was donated by the National Bank of Kuwait and sent to the city of Al-Arish in coordination between the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, to bring it into the Gaza Strip.
Assistant Al-Enezi believes that the Egyptian side in the city of Al-Arish is making great efforts to bring aid to the Palestinian side, as well as the Palestinian side, whether from the Ministry of Health or the Red Crescent, to receive and distribute medical or relief aid, and the ability to manage the crisis despite many obstacles from the occupation to obstruct its arrival in the Gaza Strip. .
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, in cooperation with the International Movement, will operate the hospital for a full year, while the hospital management will be in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Palestinian Red Crescent, and there will be medical teams from Kuwait that contribute to surgical operations and medical treatment.
