American actress Da’Vine Joy RandDolph, who recently won the most prestigious awards for her supporting role in “The Holdovers”, said on Sunday that she preferred not to imagine receiving an Oscar.
The 37-year-old actress, who recently won a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, a Bafta and other awards, appears well-positioned to receive the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in two weeks.
“I don’t take anything for granted. Honestly, this is the case for the Oscars. I’m just happy to be invited. No more, no less,” she told AFP on Sunday from backstage at the independent film Spirit Awards ceremony in Santa Monica, California.

In “The Holdovers”, by American director Alexander Payne, she plays a cook and a bereaved mother who finds herself stuck in an English school for the Christmas holidays.
“It was a surreal and powerful time for me to see my dreams come true one by one,” she says.
“The Holdovers” is up for five Oscars, including best picture and best actor for Paul Giamatti who plays a professor.
The French film “Anatomy of a Fall” won the best international film award on Sunday in Santa Monica and “American Fiction” won the best screenplay award.
Films with a budget greater than $30 million (27.7 million euros) are not selected for the Spirit Awards independent film awards ceremony. This is one of the rare ceremonies where Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” did not receive any awards.
