The Palestinian Telecommunications Company (PALTEL) announced the interruption of fixed, cellular, and Internet communications services throughout Gaza for the fourth time, in light of the continued occupation aggression against the Strip.
The company stated – in a statement yesterday, Monday – that the complete interruption of all communications and Internet services in the Gaza Strip occurred because the main routes, which were previously reconnected, were disconnected again.
Earlier yesterday, Monday, communications services were cut off from Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli bombing, which affected the routes of the main lines, before it was later announced that the service had been cut off from the entire Strip.
The Palestinian Telecommunications Company called on the international community to maintain access to communications and Internet services for citizens, medical institutions, and journalist crews.
It also called on international bodies and federations to respond to the warnings issued previously to ensure the continuation of services, in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions and the intensification of the occupation’s bombing of the Gaza Strip.
This is the fourth time that the Gaza Strip has been subjected to a complete interruption of communications services, during the Israeli war that has been ongoing for two months.
At the beginning of last November, the Palestinian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Ishaq Sidr, appealed to Egypt to activate the roaming service and operate communications stations near the Gaza border.
On December 1, the humanitarian truce between the Palestinian resistance factions and Israel ended, which was concluded through Qatari mediation with Egyptian-American support, and which lasted 7 days, during which prisoners were exchanged and limited humanitarian aid was brought into the sector, which is inhabited by about 2.3 million Palestinians.
Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, leaving 15,899 martyrs and more than 42,000 wounded, in addition to massive destruction in residential neighborhoods, vital facilities, and hospitals.
