The European far right hopes to ride on the victory of Geert Wilders’ PVV during the Dutch legislative elections.

Marine Le Pen called on Friday to “return Europe to Europe”from Lisbon, where she spoke surrounded by the leaders of the Portuguese and German parties allied to the National Rally, Chega and AfD.

“We want to help make Europe Europe back”putting “those who were the gravediggers of Europe in the minority”added the president of the RN group at the National Assembly, present in Lisbon on the occasion of the congress of the European Identity and Democracy party.

Two days after the victory in the Dutch legislative elections of the PVV of Gert Wilders (another ally of the RN) and carried by a flattering poll wave with a view to the renewal of the Strasbourg Parliament in June, the European extreme right begins to hope to obtain, if it is not a majority, a “blocking minority” in the future composition of the European Parliament.

“It is time to give a chance to movements which have no responsibility for the current situation and which are impatiently waiting to prove themselves”insisted Marine Le Pen, according to whom the electoral success of the PVV “is not a whim of the Dutch”but “a thoughtful vote recognizing the failure of those who have governed us in our respective countries for thirty years.”

The far-right Chega party (“Enough”, in Portuguese), led by André Ventura, is credited with around 15% of voting intentions for the early Portuguese legislative elections in March.

Even if no opinion study has yet been carried out in Portugal concerning the European elections, “We look forward to the arrival of Chega MEPs to support the force we represent in the European Parliament”she argued, estimating that“in Portugal, as was the case in other European countries, the left has reached the end of a cycle.”

“This confidence of the populations towards (our) movements is growing”she assured. “There is no coincidence, European people experience the same realities with each other”of which “the concerns are largely manufactured by our leaders and by the European Union.” “The people must change the leaders and we must change the European Union”she urged.

André Ventura also said “hope to get rid of socialism”during this press conference. “I am surrounded by leaders of political parties who have had extraordinary growth in their countries: these are signs that this change may be close to coming, as this change has happened in the Netherlands.”
