(Washington) Donald Trump “knew about girls”, at least that’s what claims an email attributed to American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, whose publication on Wednesday put the entire White House on the defensive.

This email written in 2019, the year the wealthy New York financier died in prison, was made public by Democratic parliamentarians.

The American president, who once frequented Jeffrey Epstein, accused the opposition of promoting a “deception”, but also issued a warning to the attention of the few Republicans who are calling for more transparency in this matter.

The opposition would do “anything to distract attention from the mistakes (it made) on budgetary paralysis,” he wrote on his Truth Social network.

“Only a very bad or stupid Republican would fall into this trap,” he warned. During his campaign, Donald Trump promised shattering revelations about the Epstein affair.

“These emails prove nothing except that President Trump did absolutely nothing wrong,” assured his spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, during a press conference.

“Situation Room”

A vote must take place in the House of Representatives to force the government to publish documents in its possession on Jeffrey Epstein, after a petition to this effect received a sufficient number of signatures on Wednesday.

Karoline Leavitt confirmed that a meeting on the Epstein affair took place on Wednesday at the White House in the “Situation Room”, a secure room where the most risky diplomatic and military decisions are discussed.

Radical right elected official Lauren Boebert, who is calling for the documents to be published by the Department of Justice and who signed the petition, was invited. “I thank White House officials for meeting with me today. Together, we remain committed to ensuring transparency for the American people,” she commented on X.

“Trump said he wanted me to give up” the membership card at Mar-a-Lago, the Florida residence of the American president, says Jeffrey Epstein in an email sent to journalist and author Michael Wolff. He specifies that he was never a member of this club and adds: “Of course, he knew about the girls, like he asked Ghislaine to stop”.

Ghislaine Maxwell, accomplice and former companion of Jeffrey Epstein, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sexual exploitation.

Death in prison

Karoline Leavitt identified this victim as Virginia Giuffre, who ended her life in April at the age of 41 and whose posthumous memoir recounts assaults suffered while she was under the thumb of Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre “said on several occasions that President Trump had done nothing wrong and that he “could not have been more friendly” in the limited interactions they had,” reacted the spokesperson for the American president.

Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in 2019 in his cell, from suicide according to authorities, before his trial for sex crimes.

The American president has always denied having any knowledge of the criminal behavior of the man he was close to before falling out with him in the 2000s.

The affair has inflamed the United States since Donald Trump’s government announced at the beginning of July that it had discovered no new elements justifying the publication of additional documents in this file.

The death of Jeffrey Epstein has fueled countless conspiracy theories, according to which he was murdered to prevent him from implicating high-profile figures involved in a vast network of exploitation of women, including minors.
