While her fate remains unknown, social media fans – in comments and tweets, some of which were transmitted by the “Shabakat” program – denounced the kidnapping of a Palestinian infant by an Israeli soldier, and demanded her immediate return.

An Israeli soldier who was later killed in Khan Yunis confessed: He told his friend that he kidnapped a Palestinian baby in the Gaza Strip, in a new crime against the children of Palestine.

During the funeral of the soldier – whose name was Harel Ghatah – one of his friends revealed the matter of the Palestinian baby. He said that he told him that he had entered a demolished house in Gaza and heard the screams of a baby girl, so he took her with him to Israel.

Harel served as a patrol commander in the Givati Brigade in the Gaza War, and was killed in Khan Yunis last December, but his friends know about the baby.

In its reaction to the incident, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the kidnapping of the child evidence of the commission of the most heinous crimes, and demanded her immediate extradition. She asked: “What was the method by which the baby was transferred from the Gaza Strip to Israel? How was she smuggled or transported publicly? What is the fate of the baby and her family? Where is she now? And why was this crime not announced by the official Israeli institutions?”

Tweets and comments

The social media audience denounced the Israeli soldier’s kidnapping of the Palestinian baby, and an episode (1/3/2024) of the “Shabakat” program quoted some tweets and comments.

Ghada Issa wrote, “This is a story from the occupying army about the kidnapping of one child. What about the hidden stories? You see how many children were kidnapped inside the occupied territories, especially since entire families were exterminated. In these cases of kidnapping, there is no one responsible or responsible for them.”

Yara wondered whether the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) had heard the news of the baby’s kidnapping, or whether it was indifferent as usual. She said: “If an Israeli or Western child had been born, all international organizations would have taken action and considered us terrorists.”

Baku’s account said: “They stole the homeland, stole human organs, stole an identity, and even stole the Palestinian heritage and attributed it to themselves. They stole everything in Palestine and the world. It is not strange that they stole an infant.”

In his comment, Ali asked that the kidnapped infant be the first person to be released in the event of a prisoner exchange deal. “The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) must recover this child as soon as possible.”

After human rights and official criticism of the incident, the Israeli army confirmed that it would verify reports about a soldier kidnapping a baby girl from the Gaza Strip.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that Palestinian children have met an unknown fate at the hands of occupation soldiers. A person named Rushdi Al-Zaza spoke about the loss of his children after he was arrested with them.
