A fatal collision involving a Tesla Cybertruck left three people dead and one seriously injured Wednesday morning in the town of Piedmont, California.
Around 3 a.m., authorities received an alert from an iPhone telling them of a collision and the location of the crash, Piedmont Police Department Chief Jeremy Bowers said at a news conference , Wednesday.
Shortly after, another person reportedly called emergency services to report the accident, according to ABC News.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found that the electric truck involved was “entirely engulfed in flames,” Officer Bowers said.
Another motorist apparently managed to extract a person trapped in the damaged car.
The Piedmont Fire Department responded to extinguish flames coming from the Tesla Cybertruck.
Officer Bowers confirmed that speed was a factor in the fatal crash, without specifying whether a mechanical problem was the cause.
