(Los Angeles) The state of California asked a court on Tuesday to prevent soldiers from being deployed in Los Angeles after Donald Trump’s decision to send members of the National Guard and Marines to the demonstrators who denounce the arrests of migrants.

“Deploying fighters trained for war is unprecedented in the street is unprecedented and threatens the very foundation of our democracy,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “Donald Trump behaves like a tyrant, not as a president. We ask the court to immediately block these illegal actions ”.

Since Friday, Los Angeles has been the scene of clashes between demonstrators denouncing raids from the Federal Immigration Police (ICE) against undocumented migrants and the police in anti-assertive clothes.

Donald Trump has decided to send 700 navies to the city, an elite body normally used as an external projection force, which are added to some 4,000 reservist soldiers of the National Guard.

The republican billionaire is accused of playing the escalation in the second American city, however with an already over -equipped police.

Violence, including burned cars, gave rise to spectacular images, but has remained limited. Local authorities say the situation is under control.

The president and his Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth “seek to deploy military staff and the culture of the warrior in the streets of cities where the Americans work, go to school and raise their families,” argue the representatives of California, according to the legal documents consulted by AFP.

After having mobilized 2,000 soldiers of the National Guard – of which 1,700 of which are already on the ground -, Donald Trump ordered the sending of 2,000 additional members. Then the president broke down the nail by announcing the deployment of 700 navies.

“To put it as bluntly, there is no invasion or rebellion in Los Angeles. There are civil disturbances that are not different from what is happening regularly in cities across the country and the state and local authorities may contain by working together, “continues the text. “Nothing prevents the president from enforcing the law via the ordinary civil mechanisms available to federal officers”.
