THE JOURNAL | The Democratic candidate for the American presidential election received a major endorsement yesterday: that of the singer Taylor Swift, who believes that Kamala Harris “fights for the causes and rights” in which she believes.
“I think she is a capable and gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish much more in this country if we are led by calm and not by chaos.”
That’s what Taylor Swift wrote in a post sent on Instagram last night, a few minutes after the end of the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Rumors to this effect had been circulating for several weeks already.
Some even thought they would see the singer make an appearance at the Democratic convention in mid-August.
His post garnered over a million likes in less than 15 minutes.
If the American star has decided to be transparent about her electoral choice, it is because of a false video published on the former president’s website in which she “wrongly” supports the Republican’s candidacy.
Tell the truth
“It really raised my concerns about AI (artificial intelligence) and the dangers of spreading misinformation. (…) The easiest way to combat misinformation is to tell the truth,” she explained.
Taylor Swift concluded by reminding her Swifties of the importance of getting informed and, above all, of voting on November 5 in the presidential election.
She signed her message with her name coupled with the epithet “childless cat lady,” a thinly veiled reference to comments made by Republican running mate JD Vance.
According to a poll by Morning Consult, 53% of American adults, both men and women, say they are fans of Taylor Swift, including 23% who are Republicans and the same number who say they are independents.
