Syrian Energy Minister Mohamed Al -Bashir said today, Sunday, that Damascus will sign “soon” an agreement to supply “electricity from Türkiye through a line with a 400 -volt effort that runs from Türkiye to Syria.”
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted him as saying that “the electricity line will link Rihaniyah (southern Türkiye) and the Harem region in Idlib countryside.”
According to the agency, Al -Bashir also said that he will conduct “work on a natural gas line between the Turkish Kilis and the city of Aleppo.”
“The gas line will enable us to supply 6 million cubic meters of gas per day to the power plants in Syria, which will contribute to improving the energy situation in the country,” Al -Bashir added.
The agency stated that Al -Bashir called on Turkish companies to invest in Syria.
Investment is available
It was quoted as saying that investment is available in all areas of energy, including exploration of oil and natural gas and refining, transporting them, rehabilitating power lines, power plants and rebuilding refineries.
Syria suffers from a severe shortage of electricity. On various occasions, she announced that she works with partners, among them the Gulf states, in the energy and electricity sectors.
And the end of last year, Turkish Energy Minister Alp Arslan Bayrakdar said that his country is ready to provide Syria and Lebanon with electricity, and that a team that follows the government is in Syria to discuss how to solve its problems with regard to energy.
“Perhaps the electricity that Syria and Lebanon need at the beginning by exporting it from Türkiye, and of course we can see the image more clearly after seeing the situation in the transport network,” said Bayrakdar at the time.
