A man who attempted to burglarize the official residence of the mayor of the Californian metropolis Los Angels, Karen Bass, on Sunday, was arrested by police.

On Sunday morning, the suspect smashed a window of the residence to break into the Getty House located on Irving Boulevard South in Windsor Square, approximately 5 miles west of Los Angeles City Hall.

The police officers dispatched to the scene apprehended the suspect who did not show resistance and no one was injured during the event, according to what the “New York Post” reported.

This incident occurs in a context of increasing crime, while the justice system adopts a lenient approach towards petty crime to the great dismay of the police who are nevertheless confronted with street gangs.

Recently, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón called for an end to prosecutions of minors and less severe penalties against street gang members, the New York media added.
