An American man in the state of Oklahoma who was due to appear in court for car theft drove to the hearing in a stolen ambulance.

Cody Adams first tried to hitchhike to the Pawnee County courthouse, about fifty miles from his home, but no motorist bothered to stop and pick him up.

It was then that the defendant who noticed an ambulance stopped in front of a gas station did not think twice about getting behind the wheel and driving off, according to what the magazine “Auto -Motorcycle” Tuesday.

No doubt out of caution, once he arrived at his destination, the burglar who was not intercepted en route took care to park the stolen medical van a few hundred meters from the court so as not to be seen.

But too late, police officers were already waiting for him in front of the courthouse, since the gas station’s surveillance cameras had made it possible to give the report, which set the police in motion.

Taken to his hearing, the young suspect who thus finds himself in a repeat case was placed in detention at the Payne County prison with a bail set at US$10,000, according to the specialized media.
