A police officer died and two civilians were shot in shot in Manhattan offices in New York on Monday evening. The author of the shooting died after being actively sought by the authorities.
Around 8 p.m. Monday, the NYPD said that the shooter had been “neutralized”. Managers said that the shooter would have died due to a “self-inflicted firearm injury”.

“This act of shocking terror is a dark recall of the persistent danger posed by firearms, the tightening of hatred in our society and the exceptional courage of the NYPD officers who risk their lives to protect the rest of us,” added the Democratic representative Ritchie Torres.
