(New York) A second person is sought after the shootings which left two dead and nine injured at the American Brown University on Saturday, local police announced on X on the fifth day of the investigation on Wednesday.

Published at
3:09 p.m.

Investigators “are seeking the public’s help to identify and speak to (an) individual” seen “in proximity” to the suspect, it is specified.

Police in the city of Providence, in the state of Rhode Island, released three photos of this person, whose face is blurred. The individual appears dressed in navy blue, wearing what appears to be a green hood and carrying a light-colored bag.

The police had previously published several photos and videos of a suspect “measuring approximately 1.73 m, of stocky build”, dressed in dark colors, his face covered with a surgical mask and wearing a cap.

His identity remains unknown at this time.

A reward of $50,000 was promised “for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the perpetrator”, considered “armed and dangerous”.

The gunman opened fire Saturday in Brown’s engineering and physics building, where exams were being held, killing two students, Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, and wounding nine others, whose names were not given.

A “virtual interfaith prayer vigil” was planned by the university on Wednesday to honor the victims.

On Sunday, a man was arrested, before being released due to lack of incriminating evidence.

Late Tuesday, Brown released a statement denouncing accusations made on social media against one of its students.
