Police arrested a 33-year-old man this week on suspicion of killing his colleague during a planned fight in a park.
On September 25, shortly after 2:30 p.m., New Mexico police officers responded to a shooting.
At the scene, officers found a 42-year-old man, identified by KRQE-TV as Joe Romo, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police allege Logan Jacobs agreed to meet the victim at Hang Glider Park to fight, then shot him multiple times.
Both Jacobs and Romo reportedly worked for the City of Alamogordo Parks and Recreation Department and met at the park after work.
Before the shooting, Romo reported to his supervisor that a fight had broken out between him and Jacobs, KRQE reports.
On surveillance video, Romo was allegedly heard saying, “Where are we doing this? Let’s go.”
The two men reportedly left and were seen driving toward the park.
According to KRQE, Jacobs admitted to shooting Romo and said he first met with him to “settle their differences.”
Romo allegedly punched Jacobs in the throat during the fight, and Jacobs allegedly pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot him.
Police arrested Jacobs on Dec. 6 on a warrant for first-degree murder.
