A former CIA agent who allegedly used his position to drug and sexually assault 28 women in “numerous countries” before taking photographs of them has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars.
“It’s safe to say that he is a sexual predator. You’re going to have some time to think about that,” U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly reportedly said Wednesday during her sentencing, according to the New York Post.
Brian Jeffrey Raymond, 48, was sent to prison for the next 30 years after admitting to “drugging and then creating obscene material depicting 28 women, without their knowledge or permission,” in which, in several photos, he straddled or groped his naked and unconscious victims, according to the American media.
The former agent of the American intelligence agency had also pleaded guilty last November to sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact, coercion and incitement, and transportation of obscene material.
“There is absolutely no excuse for Mr. Raymond’s reprehensible and appalling behavior,” the CIA said Wednesday. “We are committed to working with law enforcement.”
Over a period of 14 years, between 2006 and 2020, the man allegedly lured his victims to his government-rented home in the United States or abroad during missions in “many countries,” particularly through dating sites, before drugging them.
Several of his victims only learned they had been sexually assaulted when the FBI showed them photos of them, the Justice Department said, according to the New York Post.
“My body looks like a corpse on its bed. Now I have nightmares where I see myself dead,” one of them reportedly told the court.
Another, who met him in Mexico in 2020, believed she had met a “perfect gentleman” before losing consciousness after kissing him. She reportedly discovered that the man had then kept 35 images of her private parts, taken without her knowledge.
It was not until May 2020 that his crimes were allegedly exposed when a naked woman called for help from her balcony in Mexico City. He reportedly defended himself by saying the relationship was consensual, but that he had to quickly leave the country for the United States because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sensing hot water, Brian Jeffrey Raymond allegedly tried to delete the explicit images from his devices, but investigators managed to recover more than 500 photos and videos, according to the New York Post.
The predator had also carried out some incriminating searches such as “vodka and valium”, according to the American media.
In addition to his prison sentence, the 40-year-old will have to pay $10,000 to each of his 28 victims, and he will be added to the list of sex offenders.
