Securing golf courses, particularly the one where the alleged assassination attempt occurred Sunday, would be a concern for Secret Service officials tasked with securing the perimeter around Donald Trump.

While security around Trump was heightened following the first assassination attempt on his life, another would-be assassin armed with an AK-47 was still believed to have managed to get within 500 yards of the former president.
People familiar with the matter reportedly confirmed to CNN that the golf course where Trump plays presents a particular challenge when it comes to securing the perimeter.
The golf course with its fairways, greens and landscaped grounds with trees and hills makes the task more difficult for Secret Service officials tasked with securing the perimeter.
Donald Trump’s presence on the golf course does not result in the club being closed to the general public or the nearby roads.
In contrast, Secret Service agents dressed in golf attire are said to be riding in golf carts near the former US president when he plays, according to CNN.
They would also secure the areas for a few minutes before his arrival.
Sources told the American media that the golf cart that Trump was driving was not equipped with any special protective devices.
At a news conference, Palm Beach authorities said a suspected shooter hid in a bush on the golf course before a Secret Service agent spotted the tip of his gun.
The sheriff also acknowledged certain security shortcomings.
“At his current level, he’s not a sitting president,” Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said. “If he were, we would have surrounded the entire golf course. But since he’s not, security is limited to the areas the Secret Service deems relevant.”
“I imagine the next time (Trump) comes to the golf course, there will probably be a few more people around the perimeter,” he added.
