Search teams have been deployed to California after an avalanche near a Lake Tahoe ski resort.
The Palisades Tahoe made the announcement on X in the afternoon. According to published information, the avalanche occurred around 9:30 in the morning.
Patrol and search teams are on the mountain. It is unclear at this time whether anyone is missing or injured as a result of the avalanche.
The ski resort has announced its closure for the day.
According to the Associated Press, the local police station confirms that a team is also combing the scene, but cannot confirm if anyone is missing.
The avalanche occurred approximately 30 minutes after the slopes opened, and is believed to have occurred on an “expert” slope.
Palisades Ski Resort is located on the west side of Lake Tahoe right near the Nevada border.
Strong winds were recorded in this region of the United States on Tuesday. The ski resort’s neighboring peak recorded gusts of nearly 177 km/h, according to the National Weather Service.
